US Exposes North Korea's Role in Supplying Russia with Missiles and Artillery

Trending Now

At a UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday, the United States revealed that North Korea plans to transfer additional ballistic missiles to Russia, following the earlier delivery of over 100 missiles already used by Moscow in its attacks on Ukrainian cities, reports Ukrinform.

U.S. Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood made the announcement, highlighting that Pyongyang had previously sent over 18,000 containers of ammunition, along with missiles, which were used in strikes on populated areas like Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia.

Wood also noted that North Korea has supplied Russia with other military equipment, including 170-mm self-propelled artillery and 240-mm rocket salvo systems.

In exchange, Russia has provided North Korea with air defense systems, as well as fuel, technology, and dual-use equipment.

The U.S. official urged China to exert its influence over North Korea to prevent further escalation of the conflict.

He emphasized that Beijing has the power to pressure Pyongyang to halt these transfers, which contribute to the ongoing destabilization of the region.

Furthermore, Wood criticized Russia for failing to uphold its duties as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, pointing out that its actions undermine international peace and security.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is in Seoul, where he met with South Korean President Yoon Seok-yol.

During their discussions, Umerov shared intelligence about Russia's growing military cooperation with North Korea and explored joint responses to these emerging international security threats.
