In modern warfare, agility often trumps sheer power. As conflicts evolve, the role of traditional military hardware is being challenged by cost-effective and innovative tactics.

Drones, in particular, have emerged as a formidable tool on the battlefield. This shift in strategy is evident in Ukraine, where small, unmanned aircraft are reshaping the dynamics of ground combat.

Recently, Ukrainian forces showcased how this new reality plays out in their ongoing defense against Russian aggression, according to WP.

A short video shared on social media captured the destruction of a Russian T-90M tank by a Ukrainian FPV (first-person view) drone.

The clip begins with the drone locking onto its target, then diving straight into the tank. Moments later, the vehicle is engulfed in flames.

The Best Tank in the World

The T-90M, introduced as Russia’s most advanced tank, boasts upgraded armor, modernized electronics, and enhanced battlefield performance.

Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, have praised it as one of the best tanks in the world. Yet, incidents like this drone strike tell a different story.

Despite its technological improvements, the T-90M faces mounting criticism.

Ukrainian analysts who have examined captured tanks highlight vulnerabilities, such as outdated components carried over from earlier designs like the T-72.

Communication failures and weaknesses in electronic systems also undermine the tank's operational reliability.

The war has revealed the limits of even the most sophisticated military equipment when faced with adaptable and resourceful opposition.

Ukrainian drones, costing a fraction of the price of a T-90M, have repeatedly exposed these limitations. While heavy armor offers protection, it cannot easily counter the precision and speed of small, agile drones.
