Seventeen people are missing after a tourist cruise ship sank in the Red Sea, near the Egyptian city of Marsa el-Alam, according to Egyptian authorities, Interfax, and the Associated Press.
Rescuers have saved 28 people who were on board when the ship went down. The cause of the sinking has not yet been determined.
The Russian Consulate in Hurghada confirmed that no Russians were aboard the Sea Story, which sank during a diving safari.
The vessel had 31 tourists of various nationalities and 14 crew members on board. It departed Port Ghalib on November 24 and was scheduled to return to Hurghada on November 29.
The Egyptian Navy is continuing its search for the missing passengers and crew.
