In the aftermath of a terrorist attack targeting a defense facility near Ankara, Turkey’s Ministry of Defense announced that nearly 200 PKK militants were neutralized over the past week in military operations spanning northern Iraq and Syria.
Speaking at a press conference, the Ministry detailed that Turkey’s Armed Forces and special services are “continuously and decisively conducting operations to eliminate terrorism,” resulting in 198 militants neutralized since the October 23 attack.
Turkey’s counter-terror operations targeted PKK strongholds in northern Iraq and Syria, aiming to dismantle the organization’s presence in the region.
In addition to the military action, three PKK members fled their hideouts in northern Iraq and surrendered to Turkish border patrol forces.
A High Toll from Ankara Attack
The attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) near Ankara’s Kahramankazan district claimed five lives and left 22 injured.
Turkish authorities confirmed that two attackers were neutralized, and the PKK claimed responsibility for the incident.
Since January 1 of this year, Turkish forces have reportedly neutralized 2,419 militants, with 86 others surrendering voluntarily.
