Beach cleaners in Denmark got more than they bargained for when they stumbled upon an extraordinary find during their routine work.

Identifying Strange Object

At the beach on the Danish island the environmental team, who typically encounter plastic debris and ship waste, discovered something entirely different — an enormous whale penis, measuring over 1.5 meters (about 5 feet) in length, according to Dagens.

Upon making the discovery, the crew immediately contacted experts from NaturBornholm, a local nature conservation group, for help in identifying the strange object.

Kenneth Nielsen, a nature guide with the organization, explained that it was one of the more surprising finds they had come across.

Initially, there was confusion over whether the object might have been a sea snake, but after further investigation, it was identified as the male reproductive organ of a whale.

The organ is believed to have come from a whale carcass that washed ashore on a nearby beach in Dueodde in July. This theory is supported by the whale's previous sightings and proximity to the current discovery location. Though the find was fascinating, it also came with a less-than-pleasant aspect—an overpowering odor.

As for what to do with this unusual find, the team has decided to preserve it for further research. “Now it goes in the freezer, and we’ll figure out what to do with it later,” Nielsen stated. Whale expert Carl Kinze will also be brought in to analyze the organ further and determine its scientific significance.
