German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called for stricter knife laws following a recent attack in Solingen that left three people dead and eight injured. Scholz visited the crime scene on Monday, laying a white rose in memory of the victims—two men aged 67 and 56, and a 56-year-old woman.

"This was terrorism, terrorism against all of us," Scholz said, as reported by DW. "Now we're going to have to tighten up the gun laws ... particularly around the use of knives. I'm sure that will happen very quickly."

Germany is currently considering reducing the legal length of knives that can be carried in public from 12 centimeters to 6.

Scholz also emphasized the government's commitment to accelerating the deportation of those "who cannot and do not have the right to remain in Germany."

The attack occurred on August 23 during city day celebrations, with three victims dying at the scene from stab wounds. Eight others were hospitalized.

The suspect was a Syrian migrant and suspected ISIS sympathizer. He was arrested two days later. The terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack and released a video allegedly showing the attacker, though it's unclear when it was recorded or if it features the same person.
