Died of Heart Failure

SE og HØR confirmed the news with Pilgaard's family, stating that the renowned actor and comedian died on Monday morning from heart failure following a brief illness, according to Nyheder24.

Known for his vibrant performances in Danish revues and films, Pilgaard was a beloved figure in Denmark, often affectionately referred to as “Hele Danmarks Ulf” (All of Denmark’s Ulf).

Pilgaard’s son, Christian Pilgaard, expressed his deep sadness, saying:

“My beloved father has passed away. I will miss his presence and joy for life, and his memory will live on in our hearts.”

Career Spanning Decades

The news, released through a statement by Hammer PR, described Pilgaard’s passing as a great loss for both Denmark and his family. Pilgaard's career spanned decades, leaving a lasting impact on Danish theater, television, and film.

In this difficult time, heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans across Denmark who remember his joyful contributions to the Danish arts.

Ulf Pilgaard is perhaps most cherished for his enduring role in the Cirkusrevyen, Denmark’s most iconic comedy revue, held annually at Dyrehavsbakken near Copenhagen.

Cirkusrevyen has been a cornerstone of Danish entertainment since its inception in 1935, featuring satirical performances that tackle political, social, and cultural themes through skits, impersonations, and musical numbers.

Though Pilgaard’s fame largely centered around his work in Denmark, he also appeared in Danish films that gained international attention, such as Adam’s Apples (2005).

Directed by Anders Thomas Jensen, the dark comedy-drama starred Pilgaard alongside Mads Mikkelsen and earned international acclaim, particularly in Europe, for its unique mix of humor and depth.
