Moscow is currently facing a critical situation following a fire at a substation, which has left three districts of the Russian capital without electricity and heating. This is especially a problem for the residents of Moscow, due to the massive cold temperatures currently being experienced.
The fire at the substation on High Voltage Drive disrupted power supply to residential areas in the Bibirevo, Otradnoye, and Medvedkovo districts, among others, affecting more than 20 high-rise buildings. Despite the efforts of several fire crews at the scene, the cause of the fire remains unknown. The incident has resulted in a significant outage, and the duration of this disruption remains uncertain as utility workers strive to rectify the situation as quickly as possible.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine.
Adding to the severity of the crisis, Moscow is currently experiencing extremely low temperatures, with the capital enduring historically cold conditions. The external temperature in Moscow is around -27 degrees Celsius (-16.6 °F).
This incident occurs against a backdrop of increasing drone attacks across Russia in 2023, which have led to fires and explosions in various regions, including Moscow.
However, there is currently no indication that the fire at a substation was started due to an attack from Ukraine.
