Shenzhen, China, hosted a dazzling drone display on September 30, 2024, that celebrated the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

New World Record

At this event a staggering total of 10,197 drones filled the night sky, breaking two Guinness World Records and showcasing China's technological prowess.

This spectacular event set a new record for the largest number of drones airborne simultaneously using a single computer. Just weeks earlier, a display in Yanbian had featured 7,598 drones, which makes Shenzhen's achievement even more impressive, according to WP.

This recent event was a remarkable feat, especially given that it took place in a city with a population of over 12 million people.

Small Sport Drones

The drone show in Shenzhen not only demonstrated the impressive capabilities of the technology but also captivated audiences by forming intricate patterns and scenes, including designs inspired by traditional martial arts.

Videos of the performance quickly circulated on social media, revealing how drones can create beautiful visuals in the air.

To execute such a complex performance, the event employed small sport drones outfitted with colorful LED lights, allowing for pixel-like image formation in the sky. A single computer coordinated the drones, while artificial intelligence ensured that each drone was perfectly positioned at the right time.
