A Danish rapper who moved to Russia last year after rejecting "European values" and expressing support for Vladimir Putin has won a legal battle to cancel a contract he signed with the Russian Defense Ministry, according to the Russian independent news outlet Mediazona.
Stanley Most who performed in Denmark before retiring in 2018, moved to Russia and was granted a residence permit in 2023.
When he encountered difficulties renewing it, he signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry in hopes of securing Russian citizenship.
The 33-year-old musician reportedly expected to serve as a border guard in Siberia but was instead deployed to eastern Ukraine in a unit responsible for launching drone strikes.
He later complained that his fellow soldiers viewed him as a spy and forced him to drink vodka.
Most's lawyer, Roman Petrov, argued in court that Most did not understand the terms of the contract because he does not speak Russian.
Although the court ruled in his favor, Most may still face another trial in a military court in Novosibirsk before he can return home, Mediazona reported.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Vladimir Putin signed a decree aimed at simplifying the relocation process for foreign citizens who support "traditional Russian spiritual and moral values" and oppose the "neoliberal ideology" of their home countries.
