In recent months, the issue of wildfires in California has sparked strong reactions from political figures.

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the U.S. President-elect, has made headlines by connecting the fires to Ukraine while criticizing California Democrats.

On the X platform, Trump Jr. pointed out that the Los Angeles Fire Department had donated a large amount of surplus supplies to Ukraine, writes Digi24.

These donations, which included boots, hoses, nozzles, and medication, were sent in 2022.

This year, however, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone has been facing challenges in dealing with wildfires.

Marrone stated that with only 9,000 firefighters, the county's resources were insufficient to handle all the fires.

He even had to ask nearby counties for additional help. Strong winds, dry conditions, and an aging water supply system in the area have made it difficult for firefighters to control the blazes.

In response, President-elect Trump criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom, calling him “Newscum” and blaming state regulations for worsening the situation.

He argued that laws protecting endangered species and restrictions on water distribution from Northern California were factors that contributed to the fires.

This criticism is part of a long-standing feud Trump has had with California's Democratic leadership over forest management and wildfire prevention.

While Trump and his son made these remarks, firefighters in Ukraine were dealing with their own crisis.

In the city of Zaporozhye, Russian forces launched an attack using glide bombs. The attack killed 13 people and injured over 100.

Ukrainian firefighters were actively working to extinguish the fires and evacuate victims.

Despite the tense political situation, Ukraine expressed sympathy for the victims of the California fires.

Andriy Yermak, President Zelensky's chief of staff, offered condolences to the families affected by the fires, acknowledging the loss of life and the challenges faced by many in the region.
