A U.S. Air Force F-35 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in Alaska, with the pilot managing to eject safely, Associated Press reported.
The incident occurred at a military base near Fairbanks while the jet was attempting to land.
According to initial reports, the crash was caused by an "in-flight malfunction", which forced the pilot to eject before impact. The aircraft sustained severe damage.
The U.S. Air Force has vowed to conduct a thorough investigation to prevent similar incidents in the future.
This is not the first crash involving an F-35.
In May 2023, another F-35 went down in New Mexico during a training mission. Other military aircraft accidents have also raised safety concerns, including a cargo plane crash in December near Honolulu, Hawaii, which resulted in the deaths of both pilots.
