Miraculous Rescue off the Coast of Peru

Maximo Napa, a 61-year-old fisherman from Peru, was discovered alive after drifting at sea for more than three months. According to HotNews, Napa was rescued on Tuesday when the crew of an Ecuadorian vessel spotted his small fishing boat off the coast of Chimbote, northern Peru.

Speaking to local media in tears, Napa recounted how he managed to stay alive by eating insects, birds, and even a turtle. He said his will to survive was driven by thoughts of his mother and his two-month-old granddaughter.

"I didn’t want to die, for my mother. I thought about her every single day," he said.

A Remarkable Recovery

Despite enduring more than three months alone at sea, Napa was discharged from a hospital in Paita on Saturday in surprisingly good condition.

Jorge Gonzalez, a Peruvian naval officer, confirmed that the fisherman was able to walk and take care of himself upon arrival, though he was visibly shaken by the ordeal. Napa originally set sail on December 7 from the port of San Juan de Marcona but lost his way due to poor weather conditions.

Family Never Lost Hope

Napa’s family remained hopeful throughout the harrowing ordeal. His daughter, Ines Napa, expressed gratitude for his survival, calling it "a miracle."

"We never lost hope of finding him," she told Peruvian radio station RPP.

His rescue marks one of the most incredible survival stories in recent maritime history, highlighting the sheer resilience of the human spirit.
