A tragic accident occurred yesterday at a construction site in Chechnya, Russia, when a gas cylinder suddenly exploded.

The blast resulted in the deaths of at least five construction workers and injuries to 26 others.

The explosion took place at 8:30 a.m. in the village of Bashin-Kali in the Itum-Kalinsky District, according to reports from Telegram channels 112, Baza, and Shot.

Details of the Explosion

The explosion occurred at the OOO Dagspecstroy construction site during welding work.

According to Astra, one gas cylinder exploded initially, triggering subsequent explosions of other cylinders. The incident took place during the construction of a hydroelectric power station on the Argun River in the village of Guchum-Kali.

All the victims were construction workers.

At least 15 people were hospitalized following the explosion.

The Republican Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article on the violation of rules during construction work.

Previous Incidents

In a related incident at the end of June, a fire broke out in the administrative building of a former research institute in Fryazino, Moscow region.

The fire, reportedly caused by a violation of safety regulations, resulted in people being trapped inside, with some attempting to escape by jumping out of windows.

The fire was believed to have started in a room where headlamps were assembled, possibly due to equipment being left on.
