A guided tour in Iceland's Breidamerkurjökull glacier took a tragic turn when an ice cave collapsed, trapping several people. Two are still missing, and two others have been seriously injured.

According to a report by Kurier, the group of 25 tourists was exploring the cave in the Breidamerkurjökull glacier, an offshoot of the Vatnajökull glacier in southeastern Iceland, when the collapse occurred.

The glacier is located near the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and is a popular tourist spot known for its stunning icebergs.

About 100 rescue workers were dispatched to the site, along with helicopters and specialized cave rescuers.

The rescue mission has been challenging due to difficult conditions on the glacier.

Authorities say there has been no contact with the two people still trapped. The two injured tourists were flown to a hospital in Reykjavik.

A tourist who visited the cave shortly before the collapse described it as only three to five meters deep. The area is a favorite for guided ice cave tours, drawing many visitors each year.

The Breidamerkurjökull glacier and Jökulsarlon lagoon are also known for being filming locations for movies like James Bond 007 - A View to a Kill and Tomb Raider.
