Gunfire targeted a Jewish girls' school in Toronto, marking the second shooting at the school this year.

Only Broke Windows

Bais Chaya Mushka, located in the North York area, was struck by shots fired from a vehicle around 4 a.m., according to local police reports. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the only damage was a broken window, according to Hotnews.

This incident follows a similar shooting at the same school in May 2024. Toronto police suspect the two attacks are connected, and the case has been assigned to the city's hate crime unit.

Inspector Paul Krawczyk, who is leading the investigation, emphasized that the timing of the attack — occurring during Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar — raises particular concern.

Antisemitism is a disgusting

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded to the shooting with a message of solidarity, sharing his thoughts for the school’s students, staff, and families.

"My heart is with the students, staff, and parents who must be horrified and grieving today," Trudeau posted on social media platform X.

He condemned the act, stating, "Antisemitism is a disgusting and dangerous form of hatred — and we will not tolerate it."

This recent incident reflects a broader rise in antisemitic attacks across Canada.

A report released in May by B’nai Brith Canada, an organization that tracks antisemitism, showed that such acts more than doubled in the country between 2022 and 2023. In November 2023, another Jewish school in Montreal was attacked twice in a single week, also resulting in no injuries.

As authorities continue to investigate, the Jewish community and Canadian leaders are calling for increased vigilance against hate crimes to ensure the safety and security of vulnerable communities.
