Military tensions in the Korean Peninsula continue to escalate as North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered the country’s nuclear forces to remain on full alert.

The directive follows a recent test launch of strategic cruise missiles, signaling Pyongyang’s commitment to strengthening its defense capabilities.

Cruise Missile Test Over West Coast

Kim Jong Un personally oversaw the launch of multiple cruise missiles over the sea off North Korea’s western coast.

As reported by Digi24, the test was intended as a warning to adversaries accused of worsening the region’s security situation. The missiles were designed to demonstrate North Korea’s readiness for various nuclear operations.

South Korea’s military confirmed that it had detected signs of the missile test and monitored the launches, which took place early Wednesday morning.

North Korea’s Nuclear Forces on High Alert

Kim Jong Un emphasized that maintaining the capability for immediate nuclear strikes is the best deterrent against external threats. He stated that North Korea’s nuclear forces must always be prepared to defend national sovereignty and security.

KCNA, the country’s state media outlet, quoted Kim as saying that ensuring the full operational status of nuclear forces is the "responsible mission and duty" of the North Korean military.

International Reactions and Security Concerns

North Korea has been developing strategic cruise missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads for years. Unlike ballistic missiles, cruise missiles are not explicitly banned under United Nations Security Council resolutions, often resulting in less international condemnation.

However, the Security Council has imposed sanctions on North Korea for its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.

This missile test coincides with Kim’s visits to military academies, where he emphasized the need for ideological and tactical training for young officers.

Although Kim did not specify which nations he was warning, his rhetoric remains aggressive toward the United States and South Korea. His directive raises concerns about regional stability as global powers monitor North Korea’s next moves.
