North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has announced that his country plans to significantly increase its nuclear arsenal in a move he claims is necessary for national security.

A New Policy

In a speech delivered on the anniversary of North Korea's founding, Kim stated that North Korea is implementing a new policy aimed at exponentially expanding its nuclear capabilities, according to Digi24.

This announcement comes amid heightened tensions with the United States and its allies, which Kim described as a "serious threat" to the regime.

During his address, Kim emphasized the need for North Korea to enhance its nuclear capabilities and be prepared to use them "at any moment." He stressed that a robust military presence is essential to counter the perceived threats posed by the U.S. and its allies, highlighting the importance of maintaining a strong deterrent.

An Illegal War Oranization

The situation in the region is increasingly tense, with South Korea holding a defense ministers' meeting on Tuesday with members of the United Nations Command (UNC), which is primarily led by the U.S. military stationed in South Korea.

Notably, Germany has recently joined the UNC, which monitors the heavily fortified border with North Korea and commits to defending South Korea in the event of a conflict.

North Korea has condemned the UNC, labeling it an "illegal war organization" and criticizing Germany's entry into the command structure. Kim's announcement regarding the nuclear arsenal has raised alarm among international observers, as it suggests a more aggressive posture from Pyongyang.
