A fatal knife attack in Milan has drawn attention to both the football fan scene and organized crime in Italy.

Andrea Beretta, the leader of an Ultras group supporting Inter Milan, has confessed to killing 36-year-old Antonio Bellocco, a known member of the 'Ndrangheta mafia from Calabria.

The 49-year-old Beretta claims he acted in self-defense after being shot by Bellocco during an altercation.

The incident occurred in the Milan suburb of Cernusco sul Naviglio, where the two men were traveling together in a car.

According to media reports, Beretta was wounded in the leg by gunfire from Bellocco before retaliating with a knife, fatally stabbing Bellocco in the neck.

Beretta is currently recovering in Milan's San Raffaele hospital, while the police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Public prosecutor Paolo Storari, who specializes in organized crime, is overseeing the case and has raised concerns about potential mafia involvement.

Both men were involved in Milan's football fan scene, which has added another dimension to the situation amid existing tensions between rival Ultras groups in the city.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely for possible retaliation, as the investigation continues.

While violence between rival fan groups in Milan is not uncommon, the involvement of a prominent mafia figure in this case has escalated concerns. Bellocco, the victim, was also an Inter Milan supporter and a member of the 'Ndrangheta, one of Italy's most powerful criminal organizations.
