Latvia has donated 20 vehicles to Ukraine as part of its continued support during the ongoing conflict. These cars were confiscated by Latvian police from drunk drivers.
The decision was made by the Latvian government on Tuesday, according to a report by Ukrinform citing Delfi.
These vehicles will be distributed across various military units of the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as to medical facilities and local administrations in regions like Kharkiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Ivano-Frankivsk.
The aim is to bolster the capabilities of Ukrainian forces and provide essential support to communities impacted by the conflict.
The total estimated market value of these 20 vehicles is around €117,640 (about $17,597).
In Latvia, driving with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 1.5 ppm results in criminal charges, including hefty fines and the confiscation of the offender's vehicle if they own it.
This recent donation follows Latvia's earlier contribution of over 270 vehicles to Ukraine last year, totaling approximately €1 million in value.
