On Sunday, June 23, four men, including the director of a cheese factory in Ibăneşti, Romania, lost their lives in a tragic sequence of events.
The victims died trying to rescue a colleague who had fallen into a settling basin while cleaning it.
A Desperate Rescue Attempt
The incident began when a worker at the cheese factory was injured and fell into the basin. Witnesses reported that his cries for help prompted two colleagues to jump into the pool in a valiant attempt to save him. When they did not resurface, the factory manager also entered the basin, driven by a desperate need to rescue his team.
Rescue teams arrived swiftly, pulling all four men out of the basin and attempting to revive them. Despite their best efforts, three men were pronounced dead at the scene. The factory manager, who was in critical condition, was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
Local press, including Digi24, highlighted the heroism of the victims who lost their lives in an attempt to save their colleague.
Authorities have launched an investigation to understand the circumstances that led to this tragedy. Both the Police and the Territorial Labor Inspectorate are involved in probing the incident to determine any lapses in safety protocols and to prevent such incidents in the future.
