What started as a casual inspection behind a fireplace in an old Yorkshire home took a chilling turn when Lauren Jones discovered bone fragments hidden behind the wall.
The unexpected find prompted her to call the police, who soon cordoned off the living room, leaving the bones' origin a mystery.

A Shocking Discovery
While doing some work in her home, Lauren Jones noticed something strange behind the fireplace cavity wall. To her surprise, she found several bone fragments.
Initially, Lauren feared the worst, suspecting the remains could be human. In a Facebook group post, she shared her anxiety and described the police investigation that followed.
"These were just some of the bones the police found yesterday during their exciting excursion into our fireplace and cavity wall," Lauren posted. She added that the room had been sealed off pending further analysis to determine whether the bones were human or animal.
Are They Human?
Initial speculation, fueled by the appearance of a jawbone, made the situation even more unsettling.
However, the police quickly reassured Lauren that the jawbone likely belonged to an animal, not a human. Yet, this didn’t stop her from diving into a late-night Google search that added to her fears.
To her shock, Lauren found images of human jawbones that seemed eerily similar to the one she had discovered. But as time passed, all evidence pointed toward the bones being of animal origin.
"We don't think they're human!" Lauren later clarified on Facebook. But the bigger question remained: Why were the bones hidden in the wall?
Lauren’s post sparked a wave of comments, with many users offering their own theories about the bones.
The most popular guess? Some speculated that the bones could belong to a horse or sheep, animals whose remains might have been hidden behind the wall for reasons that remain unclear.
