The Trump administration is reportedly considering new travel restrictions for citizens from 41 countries, according to a U.S. official who spoke to the press on condition of anonymity. An internal memo obtained by Reuters outlines a three-tiered system of visa suspensions, News.ro reports.

The first group, consisting of 10 nations—including Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Cuba, and North Korea—would face a full suspension of visa issuance.

A second group, comprising Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, and South Sudan, would be subject to partial visa suspensions, affecting categories such as tourist and student visas.

The third group includes 26 countries, such as Belarus, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan. These nations could also face partial visa restrictions if their governments fail to address specific concerns within 60 days, as outlined in the memo.

The U.S. official emphasized that the list remains subject to change and must receive approval from the administration, particularly from Secretary of State Marco Rubio. If enacted, these measures would mark a significant escalation in U.S. immigration and travel policies under the Trump administration.

Since his inauguration in January 2025, President Donald Trump has enacted several policies and executive orders. One of his early actions was to sign an executive order aimed at expediting housing relief and infrastructure rebuilding in areas affected by natural disasters, particularly focusing on North Carolina following Hurricane Helene.

In alignment with his "America First" agenda, President Trump has taken measures to enhance border security and reform immigration policies. These steps include ending previous catch-and-release policies, reinstating the "Remain in Mexico" program, resuming border wall construction, and intensifying deportation operations targeting criminal aliens.

Furthermore, President Trump has signed a total of 89 executive orders since the beginning of his second term, addressing a wide array of issues from economic policies to national security measures.
