Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has remained silent for the past week and a half following his arrest in Oslo after a violent incident that has shocked Norway.

Faces Assault Charges

Høiby, who is 27, faces charges of assaulting his girlfriend and vandalizing her apartment.

During the arrest, police seized a knife, which was found embedded in the wall and not used against the victim, according to Norwegian media NRK.

In a statement released to NRK, Marius admitted that he lost control under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, leading to the violence and property damage.

"Last weekend, something happened that should never have occurred," he wrote. He also revealed his ongoing struggles with mental health issues and substance abuse.

Acknowledged Addiction

Marius, who has been in the media spotlight due to his royal connections, expressed deep regret for his actions.

He acknowledged his past battles with addiction and mental health challenges and stated his intention to resume treatment. "My abuse and diagnoses do not excuse what happened in the apartment on Frogner last Sunday night," he said. "I want to take responsibility for what I have done and will truthfully explain myself to the police."

He also apologized to his girlfriend and family, recognizing the pain his actions have caused them. Marius' statement is not just an apology but also a commitment to addressing his personal issues and making amends for his behavior.
