In southwestern Poland, recovery teams have found the bodies of two additional victims, raising the total number of deaths caused by the recent devastating floods to nine.

This was confirmed by the Polish police on the social media platform X.

The bodies were discovered in Kłodzko and Nysa counties during post-flood cleanup operations.

According to a statement by local authorities, investigations are being conducted under the supervision of district prosecutor offices in Kłodzko and Prudnik. Ongoing identification efforts suggest the latest victims were among those reported missing in the flood-stricken regions.

The floods, which have ravaged Poland’s south and southwest regions, have had a considerable financial impact.

In response, the Polish government has announced plans to modify the next year’s budget to allocate 23 billion zlotys (approximately $6 billion) for flood recovery and disaster response efforts.

The flood emergency zone has now been expanded to include Legnica and the Mentkuw commune in Lower Silesia.

In total, a state of natural disaster has been declared for 30 days across four Polish voivodeships: Lower Silesian, Opole, Silesian, and Lubusz, and will remain in effect until October 16.
