A 45-year-old woman has been found in the stomach of a giant reticulated python in Indonesia.
The shocking event occurred in the small village of Kalempang in the South Sulawesi province, where the body of a mother of four was discovered inside a five-meter-long reticulated python.
Village chief Suardi Rosi reported the incident on Saturday.
Missing Woman Found
According to a report by Die Presse, the woman had been missing since Thursday evening.
Her husband and other local villagers began searching for her when she did not return home for the night. On Friday, they found her personal belongings.
Shortly after, they came across a python with a noticeably swollen belly.
Suspecting the worst, the villagers decided to cut open the snake, revealing the woman's fully clothed body inside. Her head was immediately visible, confirming their fears.
Rare but Not Unprecedented
Reticulated pythons typically prey on smaller animals and birds, and incidents of them attacking humans are rare.
However, there have been a few deadly encounters in Indonesia in recent years:
2023: An eight-meter-long python killed a farmer in Southeast Sulawesi.
2018: A 54-year-old woman was found dead inside a seven-meter-long python in Southeast Sulawesi.
2017: A man was swallowed by a four-meter-long python on a palm oil plantation in West Sulawesi.
