Senior emergency officials have confirmed to HotNews that from September 19-21, a test will be executed to see the reaction capacity of emergency services.
The exercise is being conducted in collaboration with the United States, but officials declined to provide further details.
Bucharest-Ilfov Ambulance employees were notified through an internal message, indicating that a Red Intervention Plan could be activated due to both domestic and international factors.
An international exercise
Some staff members were alerted, but the Ambulance management clarified that this is part of an international exercise.
The drill will simulate “risk in risk” scenarios to evaluate Romania's emergency preparedness.
Ambulance personnel were advised to remain near stations during this period.
Two senior emergency officials confirmed the exercise, explaining that it is scheduled at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) level.
The primary goal is to assess how quickly emergency staff can respond, including how rapidly they can mobilize in the event of an unspecified crisis.
Both officials requested anonymity, but reiterated that the exercise is being conducted alongside American counterparts. They emphasized that such simulations are routine in Romania’s emergency services.
Authorities plan to release more details about the exercise in the coming days.
