Valentina Rodionenko, the senior coach for Russia's gymnastics team, has expressed sharp criticism of the judging at the 2024 Paris Olympics, particularly regarding Simone Biles' performance.
Scores Found Questionable
According to Lenta, Rodionenko accused the judges of bias, claiming they unfairly inflated Biles' scores, especially on the uneven bars.
"With such an imperfect execution, Biles received scores that, frankly, I find questionable," Rodionenko remarked. She also criticized the overall standard of women's artistic gymnastics at the Games, describing it as notably low.
Despite these critiques, Simone Biles delivered an impressive performance, securing the gold medal in the individual all-around competition on August 1.
Biles achieved a total score of 59.131 points across four events: vault, balance beam, floor exercise, and uneven bars. Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade took the silver medal, while American Suni Lee earned bronze.
Sixth Olympic Gold Medal
This victory marked Biles' sixth Olympic gold medal and her second at the Paris Games. Earlier, Biles had also helped the U.S. women's gymnastics team win gold in the team all-around competition.
