Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has once again claimed the title of the world's highest-paid actor in 2024, after previously securing the top spot in 2019 and 2020. This is largely due to his nothing less than record-breaking salary for the movie Red One, financed by Prime Video, according to Forbes.
Johnson is said to have received a $50 million salary for the film, which set a new benchmark for streaming industry contracts. However, despite its high expectations, Red One, which premiered in U.S. theaters in November, underperformed at the box office.
Underperformed might even be an understatement, as the film, which had a budget of $250 million, managed to gross only $185 million.
Luckily for Johnson, he also starred in the box office smash hit Moana from which he negotiated a percentage of the profits, as the film surpassed the $1 billion mark in global earnings.
Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart Among Top Earners
Ryan Reynolds ranks second on the list with an estimated $85 million in earnings, bolstered by the overwhelming success of Deadpool & Wolverine. Known for his versatility as both an actor and businessman, Reynolds continues to profit from a variety of high-profile projects.
Comedian and actor Kevin Hart takes third place with $81 million. This came from starring in the movie Borderlands as well having secured lucrative deals with streaming platforms like Netflix and Spotify. Hart’s global stand-up tours have also contributed significantly to his earnings, with multiple sold-out performances in major stadiums.
She Made the Top Ten
Nicole Kidman stands out as the only woman in the top ten, securing the eighth spot with an estimated income of $31 million. The 57-year-old actress had a prolific year, appearing in three television series, including The Perfect Couple on Netflix, as well as starring in two films, one of which is Babygirl.
