On Tuesday, analysts from the Belarusian monitoring group Gayun announced that a Russian military drone had entered Belarusian airspace.

Initial reports suggest that the Shahed drone loitering munition entered Belarusian airspace around 8:40 a.m. and likely crashed in the Zhovtnevy district of the Gomel region.

The drone fell between the village of Parychi and the agricultural town of Lyuban, approximately 55 kilometers from Bobruisk and 120 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

The drone exploded upon impact, leading analysts to conclude that these Russian drones are not for training or reconnaissance but are equipped with ammunition.

According to Militarnyi, this is the third time in a week that a Russian Shahed drone has entered Belarusian airspace.

Previous Incidents

On the night of July 13, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine with five drones, four of which were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense.

The fifth drone exited Ukrainian airspace towards the Gomel region of Belarus.

On the same day, another Shahed drone entered Belarusian territory, reaching Vitebsk.

Belarusian aircraft and air defense forces, including a Mi-24 helicopter and a Su-30 fighter jet, were alerted at 5:00 a.m. but failed to intercept the drone after patrolling for an hour and a half.
