In a heartbreaking incident, at least 107 people lost their lives in a stampede at a religious gathering in Khataras, northern India, on Tuesday.

Motorcycles Blocked the Way

The tragedy occurred following an address by religious preacher Bhole Baba, according to the Hindustan Times, citing police in Uttar Pradesh.

Survivors recounted the chaos that erupted as the crowd hurried to leave after the preacher's speech.

One survivor described the scene: "When I tried to exit, there were motorcycles parked outside blocking my way," he said, noting that many people fainted in the commotion.

The exact cause of the stampede is still under investigation. In response to the disaster, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh expressed his condolences and directed local authorities to expedite rescue operations and provide assistance to the injured.
