Yusuf Dikeç, the Turkish shooter who captured the world’s attention during the Olympic shooting competition, has filed a request to trademark the distinctive stance that made him famous.

Apllied for Trademark

The relaxed posture, featuring his left hand in his pocket while his right hand expertly aims his pistol, is now set to be protected commercially, according to his coach.

Dikeç’s coach, Erdinç Bilgili, announced that the application was submitted to the Intellectual Property Institute following reports of numerous attempts to register the trademark without Dikeç’s knowledge, according to Digi24.

“After learning about these initiatives, we submitted our application about a week ago. Other requests have been denied,” Bilgili explained.

Keeps Body Stable

Dikeç earned a silver medal in the 10-meter air pistol event, and his nonchalant shooting style went viral, with footage of him competing without protective eyewear or a helmet garnering widespread attention on television and social media.

The unique posture has inspired many athletes, including Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis, who emulated Dikeç after winning a medal. Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson also celebrated a goal in the English Premier League by imitating the iconic pose.

In response to the surge in popularity of his stance, various products, including t-shirts, mugs, and phone cases featuring Dikeç’s posture, have hit the market.

“Some people thought my hand in my pocket was a sign of arrogance. I do it just to keep my body more stable. There’s no need to look further,” Dikeç stated in early August, emphasizing the practical side of his trademark style.
