Efforts to maintain dialogue between the U.S. and Russia continue as tensions persist over the war in Ukraine.

The meeting on Tuesday, reported by Russian state media RIA, signals ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

As reported by HotNews.ro, U.S. Ambassador Lynne Tracy discussed issues related to Russian diplomatic operations abroad with Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov. Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, confirmed the meeting's content.

Peace Negotiations Under Speculation

This diplomatic contact comes amid renewed speculation about potential peace negotiations between Moscow and Washington concerning the war in Ukraine.

Ryabkov recently addressed the possibility of such talks in a press conference, though no concrete plans have been confirmed.

Unverified reports suggesting that U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff traveled to Moscow further fueled speculation. Flight tracking data showing a Gulfstream G650ER aircraft, allegedly linked to Witkoff, flying from Washington to Moscow circulated on social media, sparking questions about secretive diplomatic moves.

However, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed these rumors, stating, "We have no information and no planned contact regarding this matter." He reiterated that diplomatic channels remain active but emphasized that there were no specific discussions related to Ukraine’s situation at this time.

Continued Engagement Despite Tensions

While the exact objectives of these diplomatic meetings remain unclear, both sides acknowledge that communication through various channels has increased.

As tensions surrounding the Ukraine conflict persist, such contacts may play a crucial role in shaping future negotiations or agreements between the two global powers.

The developments highlight the complexities of U.S.-Russia relations, particularly in the context of the ongoing war and broader geopolitical concerns.
