The ongoing conflict in Yemen has drawn global attention as the situation continues to escalate.

In a recent incident, two U.S. Navy pilots were involved in a dramatic episode over the Red Sea.

Both pilots were flying F/A-18 fighter jets when they were shot down by "friendly fire" from a U.S. warship, writes AP.

The U.S. Central Command confirmed that the pilots ejected safely and were rescued. One of them sustained minor injuries.

The incident occurred during a mission launched from the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.

According to reports, the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, part of the same carrier strike group, mistakenly fired on the fighter jet.

The details of how such a critical error occurred are still under investigation.

Questions remain about how the Gettysburg misidentified the F/A-18 as a potential threat, given the advanced radar and communication systems linking ships and aircraft in the fleet.

The incident followed a series of escalations in the region. Earlier, U.S. warships and aircraft had intercepted several drones and an anti-ship cruise missile launched by the Yemeni Houthis.

These events have added to the tense atmosphere in the area, with both sides ramping up their military activities.

On Saturday night and early Sunday morning, U.S. forces launched airstrikes targeting Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.

The strikes focused on the capital city of Sanaa and areas near the port city of Hodeidah.

According to U.S. Central Command, the attacks aimed to destroy a missile depot and a command center.

Houthi-controlled media confirmed strikes in these areas but did not provide details about casualties or damage.

The USS Harry S. Truman and its strike group recently arrived in the Middle East as part of increased U.S. military presence in the region.

This deployment has intensified operations against the Houthis, who have held Sanaa since 2014.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high following a separate Houthi missile strike on Tel Aviv, which injured 16 people.

The situation in Yemen and its surrounding regions continues to develop, drawing international concern.
