A Polish cosmetics firm has launched a unique perfume inspired by the humble potato.

Bohoboco is known for its niche and intriguing fragrances, and now the brand has introduced “Polish Potatoes”, a scent celebrating the earthy beauty of Polish markets and countryside life.

In an interview with Notes From Poland, Michał Gilbert Lach, the creator and creative director of Bohoboco, explained that he drew inspiration for the perfume from his childhood in the small town of Żywiec.

He fondly recalls weekly trips to local markets, where farmers and craftsmen gathered, creating a magical atmosphere filled with the earthy scents of freshly harvested crops.

Lach describes potatoes as the “golden treasures of the Polish countryside.”

"These moments were like journeys deep into the soul, where every scent brought a new discovery," he adds, explaining how the scent represents his own “olfactory story.”

The perfume not only features the scent of potatoes but also includes hints of beetroot, wheat, grass, leather, and pine—a mix that evokes the simplicity and charm of Poland’s rustic markets.

Lach’s vision was to bottle the essence of his childhood memories, which has become a hallmark of Bohoboco's perfumes.

Founded in 2016, Bohoboco has quickly gained recognition in the global fragrance industry.

Its products, including scents like wild carrot and sea salt caramel, have earned several awards, and in 2020, Bohoboco was shortlisted for the FiFi Awards, considered the “Oscars of the fragrance industry.”

The perfume will be available next week at a price of €155 (or $185) for a 50ml bottle.
