Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet with Keith Kellogg, former U.S. national security official and now Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine.

The meeting comes after escalating tensions between the two leaders, with Trump recently referring to Zelensky as a "dictator" and criticizing his leadership.

Zelensky Pushes Back Against Trump’s Attacks

As reported by Digi24, Trump’s remarks were made on his platform, Truth Social, where he warned that "Zelensky should hurry up or he won’t have a country left." The former U.S. president has increasingly distanced himself from Ukraine while signaling closer ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky responded by stating that Ukraine’s future lies with peace, not with Putin. He also accused Trump of falling into "a Russian disinformation space" and helping Putin break out of his international isolation.

Ukraine’s Political Future in Question

The verbal attacks between Trump and Zelensky come just days before the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion.

Trump has also criticized Ukraine for not holding elections, despite the country being under martial law with 20% of its territory occupied by Russian forces.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz defended Zelensky, stating that questioning his democratic legitimacy is "simply wrong and dangerous."

Meanwhile, Zelensky reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to its Western alliances, highlighting recent discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron and U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham.

As Ukraine navigates both external threats and shifting global alliances, the outcome of Zelensky’s meeting with Kellogg could shape the country’s relationship with a possible second Trump administration.
