In a recent interview on 'The Today Show,' Emma Willis, the wife of iconic 'Die Hard' actor Bruce Willis, opened up about the challenges of dealing with her husband's frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.
Bruce Willis was diagnosed with the condition in February of this year, and Emma Willis revealed that it's difficult to say whether he is fully aware of his condition.
Emma Willis was asked by 'The Today Show' host Hoda Kotb if Bruce Willis notices his illness.
"What I'm learning is that dementia is hard," Emma Willis responded. She elaborated that the diagnosis is not only hard for the person who has it but also for the family.
"When they say it's a family disease, it's really true," she added.
In August, Emma Willis posted an emotional video on Instagram, discussing her experience of caring for her husband since his diagnosis.
"I think it's important for us to fight against the heavy and dark thoughts. I know it looks like I'm living my best life, but I have to make a conscious effort every single day to live the best life I can," she said in the candid video.
The couple, who got married in 2009, have two children, Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 9.
Emma Willis has been the primary caregiver for her husband since his diagnosis, and her recent comments shed light on the emotional toll it has taken on the family.
