Patrick Dempsey, the renowned 57-year-old actor, best known for his charming portrayal in the TV series "Grey's Anatomy", has recently been honored with a prestigious accolade.
PEOPLE magazine has named him the World's Sexiest Man, adding yet another feather to his cap.
Dempsey, affectionately nicknamed McDreamy by fans, expressed his delight and surprise at receiving this title. "I'm glad that it happens at this point in my life.
It's nice to have recognition, and it certainly gives my ego a little boost, but it also provides me with a platform to use for something positive," he shared with the media.
The actor humorously recalled his initial reaction to the news: "I was totally shocked, then I started to laugh thinking 'it must be a joke, right? I've always been a bridesmaid!'" He admitted he had never considered being in such a position before.
This isn't the first time a well-known celebrity has held this title. In the past, the likes of Chris Evans and John Legend have also been bestowed with this honor.
Dempsey's tenure in "Grey's Anatomy" spanned from 2005 to 2015, where he played the role of neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd. However, his journey on the show was not without controversy. Reports from the set indicated that he had difficulties with his co-stars, leading to his character being written out of the series. Nevertheless, he made a brief return in the 17th season in 2020.
On a personal note, Dempsey is married to makeup artist Jilian, and they have three children together: 21-year-old Talula and 16-year-old twins, Sullivan and Darby.
