The Defense Forces of Ukraine successfully intercepted and destroyed five cruise missiles and 48 Shahed-131/136 attack drones during an overnight assault on June 7.
Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported this on Telegram.
Coordinated Air Attack
Lieutenant General Oleschuk said the enemy attacked Ukraine's critical infrastructure using strategic aviation.
The attack involved Tu-95MS bombers from the airspace over the Saratov region and Shahed-131/136 type drones from different locations, including Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Yeisk, Kursk in Russia, and Cape Chauda in Crimea.
A total of five air-launched cruise missiles and 53 Shahed attack drones were used in the assault.
Ukraine's air defenses, including mobile fire groups, fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, and electronic warfare units, responded to the attack.
As a result, 48 attack drones and five missiles were shot down in various regions, including Kherson, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Kyiv.
In response to the threat, an air alert was declared in several regions of Ukraine on the night of June 7.
