Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov firmly asserted that no sanctions or embargoes will cripple the Russian economy.

According to the news outlet TASS, Antonov's comments came in response to statements from the White House regarding the possibility of a trade embargo against Russia.

"No embargo or sanctions will break the Russian economy. It is impossible to force the Russian Federation to turn away from its principled path," Antonov stated.

He emphasized that Russia remains steadfast in its strategic direction despite external pressures.

"Washington, as well as its satellites, will lose more from the restrictions. Although few people here think about the economic interests of Europe," noted the head of the Russian diplomatic mission.

The discussion on potential trade restrictions escalated when Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Dalip Singh mentioned that the United States could eventually impose a de facto trade embargo on Russian goods. Antonov pointed out that Washington’s focus on sanctions often overlooks the economic interests of European countries.
