The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of approximately 4,200 Hover-1 Dynamo e-scooters due to a serious safety hazard.
The e-scooters, which were sold online at Walmart.com, pose a significant risk of brake failure that can lead to severe injuries and crashes.
Cease Use Immediately
The recall specifically affects Hover-1 Dynamo e-scooters with serial numbers that have "WY" as the seventh and eighth letters.
Consumers can locate the serial number on a label situated on the underside of the scooter. The recalled models are matte black, equipped with a kickstand, and feature reflective lights at both the front and back of the stand board.
The Hover-1 logo is prominently displayed on the stand board and the bottom of the stem, with "Hover-1" printed in the middle of the stem.
Consumers are advised to cease using the recalled e-scooters immediately. To obtain a full refund, they must contact DGL Group, the importer based in Edison, New Jersey, and follow the instructions provided. As part of the refund process, consumers will need to submit photographs of the scooter's serial number and the severed motor cable.
22 Brake Failures
The recall follows 22 reports of brake failures, resulting in seven reported injuries, including abrasions, contusions, a dislocated shoulder, fractured teeth, lacerations, and strains.
The Hover-1 Dynamo e-scooters were sold online through Walmart.com from November 2021 to July 2022, with a retail price of approximately $200. The scooters were manufactured in China.
For more information or to begin the refund process, consumers should contact DGL Group Ltd. at their customer service number or visit their website. The CPSC urges all affected consumers to act promptly to ensure their safety and receive their refund.
