Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, Tesla, and X, has reportedly been in contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since late 2022, discussing a mix of personal, business, and geopolitical matters.
Engaged in Multiple Conversations
According to Digi24 sources confirm that Musk has engaged in multiple conversations with Putin, addressing sensitive topics that touch on international affairs, including Ukraine and China.
At one point, Putin allegedly asked Musk to refrain from activating Starlink satellite services over Taiwan as a favor to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
This request highlights Musk’s complex role in international relations, especially given his deepening ties with the U.S. military.
SpaceX, which operates Starlink, has substantial contracts with the Pentagon and NASA, and Musk holds a security clearance that grants him access to sensitive national defense projects.
Musk Denies Admiration
Musk’s contact with the Kremlin has raised eyebrows within the U.S. government.
White House officials claim they were unaware of Musk’s interactions with Putin, and some security experts worry about potential risks to national security, given that Musk’s companies are crucial to U.S. space and defense operations.
SpaceX, for instance, holds a $1.8 billion classified contract and serves as the primary provider of satellite launches for national security payloads.
The influence Musk has amassed in business and politics has positioned him as a major force in U.S. policy debates.
He is currently a prominent supporter of former President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, raising questions about his role should Trump win another term.
The alignment of Musk’s business interests with U.S.-Russia relations highlights potential conflicts of interest, especially as SpaceX’s technology has become indispensable to both the Pentagon and Ukraine.
Musk has denied any admiration for Putin, calling such claims “absurd” and emphasizing that his companies have done more than most to counter Russia’s influence.
