During the annual Thanksgiving speech in the United States, President Joe Biden made an amusing error by confusing pop stars Taylor Swift and Britney Spears.
This mix-up occurred while he was discussing the journey of two turkeys named Liberty and Bell, who were being pardoned as part of the Thanksgiving tradition.
In his speech, President Biden drew a parallel between the turkeys' journey and the challenges faced by pop music fans. He humorously mentioned the difficulties of securing tickets for popular music tours, referencing Beyoncé's 'Renaissance' tour. However, when attempting to mention Taylor Swift’s tour, he mistakenly referred to it as “Britney’s tour.”
President Biden commented on the hardships of acquiring a ticket for these music events, paralleling it to the turkeys' journey of over 1,000 miles to reach their destination.
The confusion arose when he tried to link Taylor Swift’s recent concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the heatwave impacted the audience, and a concertgoer tragically passed away. He inadvertently referred to Swift as Britney Spears while discussing the event.
This slip of the tongue by the 81-year-old President has captured the attention of the public, adding a light-hearted moment to the annual Thanksgiving ceremony. Despite the gaffe, the event continued with its traditional festive spirit, celebrating the pardoning of Liberty and Bell.
