In response to escalating security concerns, major U.S. airlines United Airlines and Delta Air Lines have suspended flights to Israel.

Thousands of Passengers Stranded

According to Lenta the move comes as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, along with broader regional instability involving Iran, heighten fears of potential large-scale attacks on the state.

On July 31, both airlines announced the suspension of their services to Israel. Delta has canceled flights through August 2, while United has extended its suspension until August 6.

This disruption has left thousands of Israeli passengers stranded in the United States, according to reports from Israeli media.

Passengers are advised to check with their airline

The cancellations follow similar actions by other international carriers. On July 29, German airline Lufthansa canceled two overnight flights from Frankfurt and Munich to Israel. Additionally, Swiss International Air Lines and Eurowings have suspended all flights to Lebanon until August 5.

The heightened security situation reflects growing concerns over regional conflicts. Recent assessments by U.S. military sources, reported by The New York Times, suggest that Iran, despite its outrage over the recent attack on Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, is wary of escalating into a full-blown war with Israel.

The decision by airlines to suspend flights underscores the significant impact of geopolitical tensions on global travel. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest information and alternative travel arrangements.
