North Korea has closed organizations that work on tourism between North Korea and South Korea and a possible reunification of the two countries, according to the state news agency KCNA.
The country's leader, Kim Jong-un, has stated that reunification is no longer possible. Consequently, he also intends to amend the North Korean constitution to recognize South Korea as a separate state.
Kim Jong-un has expressed that North Korea does not desire war but also has no intention of avoiding it. He also mentioned that the country is growing in 'strength' for self-defense.
These statements from the North Korean leader come amid increasing tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
The tensions have escalated since North Korea launched a military spy satellite into orbit in November.
Additionally, the country has repeatedly fired what appears to be ballistic missiles, with the most recent launch reported by Japan and South Korea on Sunday.
