The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Thursday the recall of over 550,000 myCharge POWER HUB All-In-One 10,000mAh portable chargers sold at Costco due to burn and fire concerns.

The recall includes three models with various date codes, following reports of the chargers overheating during use.

Incidents and Consumer Reports

According to the CPSC, there have been 120 reports of the chargers overheating, including two home fires causing approximately $165,000 in property damage.

Costco received 115 returns mentioning issues such as melting, expanding, smoking, fire, burning, exploding, or sparking. Thankfully, no burn injuries have been reported.

The chargers were available at Costco from January 2022 through November 2023.

Consumer Action Required

Customers who own the recalled myCharge POWER HUB All-In-One 10,000mAh portable chargers are advised to stop using them immediately.

The CPSC instructs consumers to contact myCharge for a replacement via the company’s recall page.

Consumers are also warned against disposing of these batteries in the trash or in recycling boxes commonly found in retail stores.

Instead, they should follow local and state ordinances and procedures established by municipal recycling centers for handling damaged, defective, or recalled lithium batteries.
