Putin has declared the establishment of a Palestinian state as the primary condition for resolving the conflict in Gaza.
The creation of a sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders is the main condition for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, stated Russian President Vladimir Putin in a message to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.
The Russian leader emphasized that the conflict in the Middle East brings great suffering to the civilian population, reports TASS according to News.
"At a time when the bloody conflict is causing innumerable sufferings to the peaceful Palestinian population, I find it especially important to reaffirm Russia's consistent position in favor of realizing the legitimate rights of your people to establish their own sovereign state within the 1967 borders," said Putin in the message, which was read by Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov at an event marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Putin noted that he considers this condition key. According to the Russian leader, its implementation will allow for an "all-encompassing, long-term, and fair Palestinian-Israeli settlement."
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas might have a personal meeting before the end of the current year.
He mentioned that negotiations remain on the agenda of the Russian leader, but the exact date has not yet been set.
