In a surprising turn of events, the Russian anti-aircraft gunners mistakenly shot down their own Su-25 attack aircraft on Sunday. This incident was confirmed by Mykola Oleshchuk, the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, through a post on Telegram.

Oleshchuk humorously expressed gratitude towards the Russian anti-aircraft team for their unintended assistance, stating, "I can confidently say that not Ukrainian air defence shot down a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft!

These are clear and coordinated actions of Russian anti-aircraft gunners, for which we are very grateful to them from the entire Ukrainian people."

This incident of friendly fire adds to the challenges faced by the Russian forces in the ongoing conflict. The downing of the Su-25 marks a significant loss for the Russian military, given the aircraft's role and capabilities in combat. Such instances raise questions about the coordination and communication within the Russian military operations.
