Russian officials reported that Ukrainian drones launched attacks on Ryazan Oblast overnight on December 4, with local Telegram channels citing explosions near the Dyagilevo airbase.
According to the Kyiv Independent, the site is home to strategic military aircraft, including bombers and tanker planes.
Drone Attacks in Ryazan
Ryazan Governor Pavel Malkov claimed that at least four drones were shot down in the region. In the Korablinsky district, about 60 kilometers south of Ryazan city, debris from a downed drone reportedly damaged windows in four houses.
No casualties were reported.
Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that a total of 35 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across several regions, including four in Ryazan Oblast.
Explosions Near Dyagilevo Airbase
Residents near the Dyagilevo airbase on Ryazan’s outskirts reported hearing explosions, according to the Russian news channel Astra.
However, there has been no official confirmation about the situation at the airbase or in the regional center.
Dyagilevo is a significant military facility, housing aircraft such as Tu-22M3 bombers, Il-78 tanker planes, and Tu-95MS bombers. It also serves as a repair plant and training center for Russia’s strategic aviation forces.
This base has been a repeated target.
In December 2022, a Ukrainian drone reportedly struck Dyagilevo, resulting in casualties. Another attack allegedly took place in July 2024.
While Kyiv has not commented on the reported strikes, its forces have increasingly targeted sites deep within Russian territory.
