Both the United States and Russia are urging Armenia and Azerbaijan to cease hostilities in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The call comes after Azerbaijan deployed forces backed by artillery into the area, which currently operates as a de facto self-governing region under Armenian control.

Russia's Foreign Ministry released a statement urging an end to hostile actions and the prevention of civilian casualties.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also called for an immediate halt to military actions in the region.

He stated that he spoke with Azerbaijani President Aliyev and urged him to stop military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh immediately.

Meanwhile, explosions were heard in the region, and at least 25 people were killed as Azerbaijan initiated 'anti-terror operations.'

Gegham Stepanyan, the human rights ombudsman for the local administration, reported that 25 people were killed, including two civilians.
